TREATED PINE, RECLAD

Ralph and Sharyn’s existing deck needed some work. A lot of the decking boards were rotten and twisted. Some of the joists were over spanned, making the deck unstable. We removed all the old decking boards, reinforced the frame by adding joists where needed. We removed part of the handrail and screen to allow construction of a new one. The Treated pine boards are fixed to the frame and then stained with Intergrain ‘Merbau’ tinted oil. As Ralph and Sharyn add coats of tinted oil the decking colour will become darker. We built the corrugated iron screen to block out the neighbours and provide some shelter. The decked screen adds privacy from the neighbours, but allows scenic view from the deck.
