Handrails

Our handrails are available in hardwood and softwood timbers in various sizes.
Aluminium and composite handrails are also available.
Posts
Balustrade posts are available in hardwood with an oiled finish, or softwood with a painted finish. Most timber posts are available in 90mm and 140mm. Steel posts can be used in high fire danger areas, or where the deck height requires them. Steel can be painted or powdercoated.
STAIRS, STEPS AND RAMPS
At Spruce, we know that every deck is unique and requires a custom approach to stairs, steps, and ramps. That’s why we offer individually designed solutions that perfectly match your deck and meet your specific needs.
Our stairs come in two basic types: decked and stringer. Decked steps are clad in decking that matches your deck, creating a seamless and integrated look. Stringer steps, on the other hand, feature a more open design, with a stringer on either side and a solid tread spanning between them.
Whether you need a simple set of stairs or a complex system of ramps and landings, our experienced team will work closely with you to ensure that the design meets both your practical needs and your aesthetic preferences.
Decked Steps
Decked steps are a blocked design steps, clad in decking boards to match your deck. One advantage of decked steps is they can be design and built to many shapes, sizes and configurations.
STRINGER STEPS
Stringer steps have a traditions feel and suit higher staircases. Stringer steps are made of Stringers (The large piece of timber of the sides angled from the deck to the ground) and Treads (The timber members that are walked on)
SPLIT LEVEL DECKING
We can design and build your deck to follow the contours of your yard. Split level decks can utilize the most of a sloping block. Splitting your deck into several levels can also hide how high your deck is.
GATES
Spruce designs different styles of gates to match your choice of balustrade. Gates can be built with glass, wire, timber, and welded panel infills. Gates can be built with a selection of hardware finishes and options. Spruce can design and create a gate to suit your balustrade and deck. Gates can be fitted with magnetic latches, drop bolts, or pool safety latches. Hinges are either galvanized, stainless steel, or polymer.

This gate has a timber surround and brace to blend with the glass balustrade and timber handrail.

Timber gates work for any balustrade option, whether glass, wire or timber. Timber can be matched to your timber decking.

You can make use of space beneath your deck by installing an access gate which blends in perfectly with the cladding and keeps everything hidden away from sight.
PIVOT GATES
Pivot gates create a great feature of any garden. Pivot gates can be large to allow easy access and egress.
